Day one: Portimão to Loulé
The route starts off-road with accessible challenges, circles the Odelouca dam and reaches the area near São Marcos da Serra for lunch. The afternoon crosses the Algarve interior on tracks used during the 2006 Dakar Rally, reaching Loulé and Hotel Dom Fernando at the end of the day.
Day two: Loulé to Alcoutim
After a viewpoint over Faro, the route returns to Dakar tracks through the Algarve mountains, passing watermills, dams, streams, holm oaks and pines. In dry weather, dust is a constant. The day ends in Alcoutim, staying at the youth hostel above the River Guadiana.
Day three: Guadiana to Alentejo
The route follows the great southern river through salt pans, marshes, dams and streams, with traces from the Neolithic, Roman and Arab periods. The green riverbanks give way to the broad brown plains of Alentejo. Some sandy sections appear before the overnight stop at Herdade da Barrosinha.
Day four: sand and Costa Vicentina
The final day is the most demanding for driving, with many kilometres on sand and guidance from the organisation. It then follows the Costa Vicentina through Vila Nova de Milfontes, Porto Covo, Ilha do Pessegueiro and Zambujeira do Mar before returning to Portimão.
